Stalinist Period in Czechoslovakia - Its Interpretation and Teaching in Secondary Education

1950s may be classified as one of the worst periods in Czechoslovakia's history. The totalitarian communist regime in the period between 1948 and 1953 is called the Stalinism. The primary objective hereof was to evaluate teaching about the Stalinism period in Czechoslovakia in secondary schools, in particular, to assess the scope of correctness and completeness of the related curriculum and teaching methods. The secondary objective hereof was to introduce and describe the Stalinism as a typical example of totalitarianism and to define crucial elements of this non-democratic form of government using the example of Czechoslovakia from 1948 to 1953. The thesis proceeds from the theoretical part via a case study to the practical part. The first part classifies totalitarianism, defines its historical outset and determines its main features. The second chapter describes and explains the Stalinism, which is a typical example of totalitarianism having functioned in practice in the Soviet Union from where it spread to the majority of the Communist countries, including Czechoslovakia. V práci se snažíme podat ucelený výklad tvorby V. Párala z let 1969-1989 se z etelem k jejím širším kontext m literárn -historickým, genologickým i ideovým. V první ásti v nované specifik m autorova tv ího typu, logikou vývoje jeho díla a analytickému rozboru d l dospíváme k m o n o t e m a t i n o s t i jako konstitutivního rysu autorovy tvorby. Na základ toho se snažíme poukázat na ideovou kontinuitu a vnit ní koherenci celého Páralova díla a polemizovat tak se zjednodušujícími interpretacemi akcentujícími pouze politický rozm r autorova díla ze 70. let. V druhé ásti se díváme na Páralovo dílo na pozadí eské prózy poslední t etiny 20. stol.; autora pojímáme jako ideového protich dce M. Kundery (a kritika kunderovského racionáln -analytického postoje k životu) i B. Hrabalem reprezentovanou "postbeatnickou" vlnu literatury. Upozor ujeme na etickou dimenzi autorovy tvorby, všímajíce si i jejího zajímavého paradoxu stylov -ideové kontrárnosti (novátorský "technicistní" styl, postmoderní vlivy vs. obhajoba tradi ních hodnot a návratu ke ko en m lidské p irozenosti). A Way Out of the Great Depression, 1933-1938 - a Comparison between USA and Germany

This bachelor thesis deals with the comparison of the development of the approach of the USA and Germany to solving the consequences of the Great Depression from both the economic and political point of view. The thesis examines the influence of the political establishment on the form of implemented measures. The work also analyzes the success of the measures taken. The work focuses on five key economic segments. These include unemployment, industrial production, international trade, agriculture and monetary policy. The aim of this work is to describe the development of the approach of the USA and Germany to the Great Depression between 1933-1938.
Hannah Arendt and her concept banality of Evil

The present thesis deals with the concept of the banality of evil philosopher Hannah Arendt Along with other interpretations of the notion of evil. This work aims to introduce the concept of the banality of evil take Adolf Eichmann Nazi criminals Which Mel trial in Jerusalem, on the basis of Arendt created already mentioned the term banality of evil. The aim is to analyze the causes and circumstances of Revizionism, its origins and the character of the dispute between revisionist and totalitarianist interpretation of Soviet history. Function of the Cadre and Personnel Departments in Czechoslovakia in the Period 1948-1989

This bachelor thesis discusses the impact of the activities of Cadre and Personnel Departments in Czechoslovakia during the rule of the Communist Party. The study is based on historical documents, learning materials, and secondary vocational studies, monographs and collections of materials and describes constitution, functioning and changes in personnel policy and nomenclature of the Communist Party in the period between February 1948 and November 1989. In its analytical part there are listed and categorized various functions of Cadre Departments which were practical executor of personnel policy in public administration, and economic organizations. Work also notes a shift in the perception of such terms as "cadre" or "nomenclature" during the time period and interprets the phenomenon as a specific form of bureaucracy, a new social class and confronts the matter with the theory of totalitarianism.
Work of Pavel Kohout from 1979 to 1989

This thesis on Work of Pavel Kohout from 1979 to 1989 deals the period of Kohout's life and work during his exile in Austria. The aim was to find out the main characteristics of Pavel Kohout's prosaic art and also to compare the period critiques and show their contact and different points. The first part focuses on a destiny of Pavel Kohout in chosen decade. The second part examines his novels Nápady svaté Kláry and Hodina tance a lásky together with the memoir-novel Kde je zakopán pes. The final part studies the period critiques and try to point out their similarity or difference. Thanks to analysis, the author found out that in exile Pavel Kohout continues in his poetic style, but his work also evinces the element of autentization. The novels Nápady svaté Kláry and Hodina tance a lásky represent Kohout's ability in fabulation. Value of the memoir-novel Kde je zakopán pes consists in its genre, which places the text on the border between fiction and non-fiction. The author proved that the beletrization of own memories increases the esthetic impact of a text. A comparison of certain critiques showed that a literary criticism looks at Kohout's work inconsistently. Yugoslavia in the context of totalitarian and authoritarian states

The thesis Yugoslavia in the context of totalitarian and authoritarian countries deals with the characteristics of the governing regime of SFRY. In the first chapter, the terms "totalitarianism" and "authoritarianism" are defined. In the following chapters, the thesis observes the development of socialist Yugoslavia throughout the individual periods concerned, and classifies the dominant features of the regime. Historical facts are based on works of J. Pelican and J. Pirejvec, the theory of political science is based on works of S.Balík and R.Dahl. The aim of the work is to determine, in what respects was the government's policy influenced by historical events, as well as to describe the essence of Yugoslavian regime.
